Research in imaging, interaction, and innovative interfaces - a mix of computer vision, augmented
reality, mobile and wearable computing, and human computer interaction.
NSF-funded IGERT program for interdisciplinary research centered on digital media.
The PluriLabs
Curtis Roads, JoAnn Kuchera-Morin
Laboratories for research in sound and image analysis and synthesis, scientific visualization and sonfication, multi-modal interactive systems, multi-channel audio spatialization, and multi-screen video projection. R&D test beds for experiments in 3D image and sound synthesis projected in the AlloSphere as well as similar immersive environments around the world.
Developing new methods of computing natural motion for both aesthetic and engineering purposes.
Systemics Lab
Marko Peljhan
The Systemics Lab is devoted to the creative exploration of the edges of art, science and technology research with a special focus on robotics, interface design, signal processing, embedded systems, sensors and sensor networks, communications, applied aerospace systems, biological computing paradigms, sustainable computing paradigms, cybernetics and systems theory in general. The lab is equipped with multiple computer workstations, hardware prototyping facilities, and several exploratory micro-ecologies.
Research in multimedia signal processing and analysis, including applications in large multimedia databases, bio-image informatics, digital libraries, data hiding, and image processing.
