Steps to Master's Graduation - Timeline

1. Three months prior to the date of the final presentation:

Nominate your committee members using this form.
Print checklist: use this form.

2. At least one month before the date you wish to give your presentation:

Send an email to the Graduate Program Assistant (Diane Harden) notifying her.

3. At least two weeks prior to the final presentation date:

  1. A draft version of the thesis/project (please use the info below - cut and paste) must be distributed to the Grad Committee
  2. A preliminary presentation of the project must be demonstrated to the Grad Committee. The student sets this up with the committee and notifies the Graduate Advisor as well by email.
  3. Notify the Graduate Program Assistant of the date, time, a brief description (Abstract), and your preferred location so she may secure the room and advertise to the faculty and students.
  4. Fill out the Graduation Checklist. You will need this for final signatures of the committee members after your final presentation is given. Without it, the department cannot file a Letter of Fulfillment in order for you to graduate.

4. After completing your final presentation, you need do the following — no exceptions:

  • return all keys that were issued to you when you first began the program and any others since
  • return your completed Exit Survey
  • provide 2 copies of your paper along with a soft copy
  • obtain your fulfillment letter from the Graduate Program Assistant
  • have Dr. Curtis Roads sign the fulfillment letter
  • return the signed fulfillment letter to the Graduate Program Assistant so she can make a copy for your file

Once you have completed the above steps, take the original letter to Graduate Division and then you are done. Your diploma should arrive within 6 months, be sure you update your information in GOLD so the graduate division will have the correct address in order to send your diploma. In the meantime, if you need a letter of completion, let Graduate Division know and they will prepare one to hold you over until you receive your diploma.
