Melissa Carrasco Check-out Durations

This project looks at the check out duration date over the span of a week: 11/4/2007 thru 11/10/2007. The average check-out duration is calculated for five item types: book, dvd, vhs, cd, and audio tape. The visualization charts the number of items that were kept longer than the average duration versus the number of items that were kept shorter than the average duration.

This project was realized using Processing.

Initial sketch of the visualization.

First versions of the visualization only one color scheme was used for all the items.

Second version. Different shades were used to group together similar items types: text, visual, audio.

Final Version. Different colors were used to group together similar item types.
