cremate a series of art performance events involving UC Santa Barbara students and faculty. These events (intentionally) vary in content, structure, and context but share the following set of general qualities and goals:
- creative collaborations within works and thematic connections between works
- transdisciplinary approaches and intermedia production
- presentation of works that are atypical in venue, audience, performance methods, etc.
- works that interact with or otherwise reflect their environment or audience
These events will occur multiple times each year. Calls for works will be posted on the cremate website and/or on campus, but those interested in presenting works or in organizing events should feel free to express their interest at any time. Works presented should typically involve one or more members of the UCSB community, although collaboration with others is acceptable (and encouraged).
The cremate series is organized by Salman Bakht (Media Arts and Technology, PhD). Please contact him (bakht@umail.ucsb.edu) or consult the website (www.mat.ucsb.edu/~sbakht/cremate) for more information.
