Eric Paulos was born in LA, CA in 1969 and has recently finished his PhD degeree in the Computer Science Department at the University of California at Berkeley. His research focuses on robotics and Internet-based tellepresence. In 1995 Paulos began building "ProPs" (Personal Roving Presence), two-way wireless rovers controlled via the internet. The first ProPs were controllable blimps, later version were roving ground-based vehicles.

Paulos is involved in research and projects that explorer the relationiship between human beings and technology. In 1997 he worked on a number of projects with Mark Pauline of Survival Research Laboratories.
